Most Overused, Generic, Boring Dating Photos and Phrases On Dating App Profiles on Bumble, Hinge, Coffee Meets Bagel, Tinder, OkCupid. Tinder Bingo.
If you have spent any time on any major dating site or app whether it’s Hinge, Coffee Meets Bagel, Bumble, Tinder or OkCupid, you will notice a certain trend in photos across men’s and women’s profiles – the same types of photos, bios and answers to prompts used on what seems to every profile out there.
As an online dating photographer and consultant in San Francisco, I have reviewed and improved countless dating profiles, photos and bios over the years. Using cliche or boring photos makes it really tough to stand out from the competition on dating apps.
We’ve all seen gym selfies, fish photos, angel wing street art photos and travel photos from Iceland and Machu Picchu but there are a number of other photos making their rounds on dating apps.

In case you are wondering how original your photos are, the bingo card below should provide some relief or cause some cringing. Dating photos should be original and creative to show some thought and effort was put into your profile rather than playing it safe.
Using generic, cliche photos suggest a lack of creativity as well as an inability to be vulnerable, put yourself out there and be confident in your own skin. Don’t use self-sabotaging photos in your dating profile.
Photos that are generic or too common make it harder to stand out from the competition. Selfies, sunset photos, inspirational quotes, angel wing photos, Snapchat filters, group photos etc. are all too boring and unoriginal.
Don’t forget captions! Captions can make or break photos, add context and reveal insight about you that is hard to reveal with just photos. Adding captions also provides additional conversation starters which will increase match rate.

As you can see, there are a number of ways you can hurt your chances through your photos. Not every type of photo here is a deal-breaker for most people but the more often you use these types of photos (especially in your main profile photo) the more likely you are to scare off others who are looking for something serious or at least LTR potential.
