What Are Dating Apps Like For Women? Female Dating App Experience, Using Dating Apps As A Woman, Is Online Dating As A Woman Worth It?
The way men and women experience dating apps varies by each gender. Each has their own set of frustrations, hurdles, blind spots, inefficiencies and user experience as some apps treat genders differently in terms of what they are allowed to do and when, how many profiles they can see or contact and when they can message the other.
Apps like Bumble force women to send the first message in order for conservation to begin. Given the gender ratios on dating apps (men outnumbering women 2:1 up to 4:1 or more), each gender may show a different number of profiles each day. When you layer in societal gender roles, things really start to settle in and expectations and experiences start to become distinct for each gender.
Women were the fastest growing demographic of dating apps during the pandemic. Those who were reluctant to try online dating had no other choice, as Covid held them hostage. The world changed for women and dating like no other event in modern history, which resulted in materially different ways each gender approached dating apps.
- Women were working from home and having fewer opportunities to meet guys organically
- Women were isolating more than men on average and had fewer occasions to meet men socially
- Pre-covid, men outnumbered women on dating apps and so more women registered for apps for the first time during covid
- In terms of family planning, women have a shorter window to have kids through birth and had a greater urgency to date, enter relationships and get married.
- Women were learning to use apps for the first time whereas men, on average, had extensive experience with dating apps

What Is It Like Using Dating Apps As A Woman, What Is Online Dating Like As A Woman
Once you create a profile, most women experience a sense of overwhelming notifications, likes and/or messages depending on the dating apps – it can be so bad that some women have been known to quit apps in a matter of days of launching their profile. Having options is great, but an influx of attention is something most women do not have experience with or have a high level of comfort.
New profiles on dating apps are typically boosted and shown to more people initially, and then shown less overtime. Dating apps claim this is intentional to train the algorithms, understand preferences and help serve you better profiles, but this is garbage.
The main intention here is to get people hooked. The more attention and interest people have, the more likely they are to keep using the apps and more likely to pay for bells and whistles once that attention and interest starts to fade.
Is Online Dating Easy For Women? Are Dating Apps Easier For Women Than Men?
That really depends on who you ask. The main problem guys face on dating apps are:
-lack of likes
-lack of matches
-lack of first messages
-lack of conversations
-lack of dates
These are the biggest complaints men have on dating apps these days. These items are associated with the top of the funnel in terms of the online dating journey. Women on dating apps typically do not have trouble getting likes, matches, messages or dates. These are more or less available to them without limit.
The main issues women face on dating apps are:
-ghosting
-unwanted attention
-harassment
-matches not messaging them
-guys lying on profiles
-low effort
-guys not reading their profile
As you can see, the issues faced by women occur later in the funnel and deal with more qualitative aspects of a profile, intentions and effort. This is to be expected given the strong competition thanks to gender ratios but also because of poor reporting mechanisms, bad enforcement of rules, lack of accountability and ability for people to create new profiles after being banned.

Is Online Dating Safe For Women? Are Dating Apps Safe For Women?
Dating apps are merely a communication and introduction tool, don’t expect dating apps to screen profiles or do background checks (they don’t). It’s not uncommon for women to experience some really awful behavior on dating apps including:
-stalking (men showing up to their place of business or home)
-calling or texting them after being rejected
-receiving harassing messages and threats
Instances of violence and rape are high when people meet on dating apps as these apps prioritize anonymity and lack accountability. In addition to physical harm, there is of course mental health concerns like ghosting, trauma and verbal abuse. Scammers prey on lonely women, divorced/widowed women, and those that appear that they might lack self-confidence and self-esteem.
Many of the cases are underreported out of safety, embarrassment, lack of being taken seriously and lack of accountability. It’s super easy for people to create new profiles and stalk you after being banned.
What Is It Like Using Dating Apps A Woman, Are Online Dating Apps Worth It For Women
Dating apps are a great way to meet people outside your social circles, routines, immediate neighborhood and day-to-day life. They are meant to be used merely as introduction tools rather than ordering apps. Women make the mistake of being too trusting on dating apps, leading to frustration and disappointment.
In order to get more out of dating apps, women need to understand how to navigate apps, understand what their profile signals, be more proactive and learn to screen profiles and read people. In my coaching sessions, I help women identify trouble spots, help them be smarter and more efficient on the apps and how to cut out time wasters more quickly and efficiently.

Are Dating Apps Easier For Women? Is Online Dating Easier For Women Than Men?
That depends. Given gender ratios on dating apps, it’s easier for women to get likes and matches than men but that doesn’t matter if there is more unwanted attention, more low-effort interest, guys who don’t read your profile and more harassment. Men struggle with likes and matches while women struggle with screening profiles, reading people, using filters, etc.
