Bumble Expert Dating Advice Videos, Bumble Dating Tips Feature

Bumble has recently updated their app and has launched a new set of features but the one I want to focus on is the Dating Advice section of the app.

This new section in the app displays a couple new features, including video clips (dating advice) as well as dating tips in the form of articles and more.

You might be wondering why Bumble decided to release these tips and advice videos and while it’s hard to tell, there has been growing frustration with the app as it has increased prices, released new features that  create more ambiguity and resulted in people being more frustrated with apps in general.

In Bumble’s defense, it’s goal is to maximize profit for shareholders and the stock has tanked to about 10% of its all-time high in 2021. During the pandemic, people had no choice but to use apps in many areas of the world and so it had a captive audience but as RTO is kicked in, more people are going out and more options exist for dating, Bumble had to do something.

Bumble could no longer coast on having a monopoly on dating outlets and thus had to make sure they did a better job with user experience, customer satisfaction etc.

Bumble Dating Advice Videos

The first part of the dating advice section of the app is a set of videos from therapists (mostly). These videos are about 1 minute in length. I am all for people getting advice and help from professionals but there is a lot of nuance and context needed when taking in advice (there is a reason I don’t do videos).

For the most part, these videos can be viewed as motivation videos rather than specific tips that can really move the needed. These bite size videos help those who have no idea what to do but without a holistic strategy, can often leave people frustrated as changes in 1 or 2 areas of their dating lives rarely is enough to see material change.

When people ask me for advice, they usually underestimate all the factors that lead to dating success including photos, lifestyle choices, effort, available time, preference, deal-breakers, bios, messaging, life experience, social skills, date planning and ability to screen profiles, read people and cut off time wasters quickly.

Bumble Dating Experts

For the record, I am quoted in the article below about dating with anxiety. You can read the article here: https://bumble.com/en-us/the-buzz/dating-with-anxiety (I am not employed by Bumble, I do not get any payments from Bumble).

While it helps to get advice when and where you can, when it comes to dating (the biggest decision one can make about who they spend their time on, with etc) people rarely get the help they need to make informed decisions.

People are often looking for hacks, quick fixes and rarely look at themselves in the mirror to make sure they are ready to date, happy on their own, have realistic expectations and are capable of using good judgment and making sincere efforts.

Here is the job description for their in-house relationship experts (from one of their investors). From what I can tell, these folks are employed by Bumble in some capacity.

As with any advice, consider the source. I am an independent expert who is not bound by one app, heck, in many cases, I tell clients to not use apps depending on their mindset, effort, realistic expectations etc. I evaluate options even those that don’t involve hiring me. That is the difference between other coaches, experts and myself.

Bumble Dating Tips – New Feature

You may find the tips in the article helpful but for those that struggle despite reading all the articles and watching all the videos, it might help to get someone to do a deep-dive into your dating life so you can understand nuance, uncover blind spots and get brutally honest advice that most people in your life are unwilling to share with you (fear, bias, inability to tell you what you don’t want to hear).

If you are not in a position to hire me, that’s fine. There are lots of advice in my blog here from taking photos, reviewing profile questions/templates, what to look out for when hiring matchmakers and more.
