- Born in Oakland, raised in Marin, went to USC, lived in NYC (UWS) and currently in San Francisco
- Worked in data analytics & business strategy ~10 years (competitive intelligence, price testing, and creating new revenue streams for a tech company).
- Interned at MGM Studios (Publicity/Photography dept) & Universal Music (Marketing)
- Love traveling (big cities, quirky towns, road trips and places with few American tourists)
Photography Career
- Photography inspiration (Brandon Stanton, Humans of New York; Bill Cunningham, NYTimes)
- Photography has always been a passion of mine. I love documenting my experiences, travels, and moments in life with friends and family.
- Started off doing weddings (too staged, stiff and artificial photos);
- Food and beverage (fun but same as above)
- Events (taught me how to get quick shots of organic moments)
- Focused on organic headshots without all the photoshopping (focus on personality, authenticity).
Dating Services Career
- I realized when I was using apps a long time ago that many people used my photos for their dating profiles (clients, friends and even family members)
- Focused on organic photos like a talented friend took them (personal, vulnerable & effortless)
- Understood people needed more than photos to do well with dating, so focused on profile consultation and app coaching.
- Realized offline efforts, lifestyle choices, hobbies and personality mattered, so focused on offline efforts to help people meet others organically.
Personal Image Consulting
- While dating is my main focus, people are not always ready to date and often tried to learn to run before they could walk.
- People often lacked structure in their lives (first impressions, social skills, etiquette, knowing how to make friends, how to read people etc).
Mission Statement, Philosophy
- Photography should be about authenticity, approachability, and organic people, places, and moments.
- Much of what people see in magazines, Instagram, and advertisements are illustrations, not photographs.
- I believe who you date and who you spend your time with is arguable the most important decision one can make in life, yet people try to hack it, look for shortcuts, have no idea what they are doing or don’t take it seriously.
- Dating advice is impossible to consume via social media as lots of context, corner cases and anomalies exist in every piece of advice.
- Technology can be useful, when used sparingly and with full-awareness of impact, unintended consequences.
- Dating success can boil down to self-awareness, how happy you are on your own, ability to make it a priority, willingness to undo biases and desire to give each new person the benefit of the doubt (within reason).
- I believe you can do everything from and stumble upon love but can also do everything right and still have trouble meeting someone special.
- I firmly believe that you can approach someone 10 times and get 10 different results just based on timing, nuance, context, locations, crowds and other details.
