San Francisco Bay Area Headshot Photographer: Outdoor, Natural Light & Public Spaces

San Francisco Bay Area Outdoor Headshot Photographer
As somone who has been photographing people professionally for over 12 years, I have maintained an extensive list of places to shoot photos all over San Francisco and the Bay Area. Knowing things like wind, sun, crowds, open hours, parking, nearby restrooms, changing rooms and more has allowed me to take all the planning and stress out of headshots so clients can focus on their day.
Most photographers in San Francisco and the Bay Area for that matter do not prefer nor like taking photos outdoors because there are more elements and planning involved. As someone who does this full-time and for a long time, I know my way around the city and can recommend environments, backgrounds and aesthetics to complement everything from wardrobe, hair, complexion while factoring things like industry, seniority and what you want to convey.
Indoor vs Outdoor Headshots?
Indoor headshots all for photographers to control things like wind and direct sun so that they can produce photos with more certainty. Indoor headshots can be great for things like offices, home sales and more but they may be hard to come by if you do not have access to such spaces.
Similarly, some photographers may take outdoor photos occasionally but lack the knowledge or effort to customize photos for you. Some may actually shoot in the same outdoor space for many of their clients which can make it obvious for things like dating photos (not recommended).

Outdoor vs Studio Headshots
Outdoor headshots are great for those who want a unique headshot that doesn’t look like everyone else’s. They all for photos to attain memorable and distinct backgrounds so that you can stand out. Headshots taken outdoors allow for more versatility, help headshots stick out while studio shots can feel like a void.
Studio headshots are redudant and look very similar to everyone else, despite different colors and techniques applied to flash lighting. Simiilarly, some studio spaces can feel very small and claustrophobic while some clients may prefer spaces that have more air movement (this was especially true during the pandemic).
Lastly, some roles and industries demand photos be taken to capture backgrounds i.e. buildings, offices, aesthetics, signage or equipment.
